The city of Padua belonging to the Carrarese, but also to its art, culture, medicine and science is on exhibition in all its glory. An exhibition project so ambitious that it was even defined as “impossible”.
From 16th April - 31st July 2011, the great exhibition of Guariento and the Padua Carrarese will allow the public to re-live that extraordinary epoch (defined as the “golden age”) of the city, years during which the capital of the Carrarese held it's own to Paris and other European cities where art and culture were concerned. Beginning with the newly renovated premises of the Palazzo del Monte in Piazza Duomo, where the exhibition bringing together almost all Guariento's pieces for the first time has been set up. The exhibition continues in the Eremitani Museum, Palazzo Zuckermann, the Diocesan Museum, and Petrarca's House in Arquà. The main exhibitions are supported by an itinerary to rediscover the Padua of the Carrarese: the Scrovegni Chapel, Palazzo della Ragione, the Baptistry of the Cathedral and the Oratory of St. Michael. The much awaited "impossible" exhibition opened on the 15th April.
The splendid Church of the Eremitani provided the background to the event, where the promoters and organisers took turns in illustrating the exhibition project in front of a parterre of more than 1,000 people.
The opening was followed by a tour of the various exhibition areas that stayed open, for the occasion, until 11pm.
Already during the first opening weekend the exhibition drew great success with the public.
